Usually springtime is when we see renewal and rebirth, but here in Vermilion, every time is a good time for redevelopment! Not only are we seeing older spaces rehabilitated for new uses, but we’re also seeing an effort by businesses and organizations to revamp their brands and services.

We are excited to be a part of this movement by launching a new-and-improved online mapping system. This world-class portal uses sophisticated technology to market land and buildings to people interested in doing business in Vermilion Parish. Whether you’re moving around the block or from around the globe, this tool will help evaluate properties for your business. We also plan to use our new tool to assist local owners reach a broader audience and bring their real estate into commerce. The online system is fully-accessible to the public and features submitted green fields, commercial lots, office space, industrial buildings and retail square footage. Users can check off a series of boxes to add data layers like flood zones, traffic counts and even wetlands areas. Downloadable flyers featuring property details make it easy to market available spaces, while the built-in tools make displaying, measuring, and printing customized maps quick and easy. Speaking of new and improved, the Vermilion Arts Council (VAC) is undergoing its own renaissance. After several years of supporting the arts in Vermilion Parish, the existing board is handing the reigns over to a young, energetic group of residents invested in the arts. Together, the existing and new teams are soliciting feedback from you – businesses and citizens of Vermilion. The group aims to use this information, and hopefully new membership, to plan quality programming for everyone to enjoy.

Want to get involved? The group is hosting an event to meet and mingle with existing and potential members this Monday, September 25th at 6:30 pm at Kelvin’s Piano Bar. Whether you’re an artist, craftsman, or simply someone who appreciates the arts, your opinion is valuable! Come for fun and stay for an idea exchange and update on the new VAC.
